Psalm 25

Dependence on the Lord

Of David.

1Lord, I appeal to you.25:1 Or To you, Lord, I lift up my soul25:1 Ps 38:15; 86:4

2My God, I trust in you.

Do not let me be disgraced;25:2 Ps 31:1; 71:1

do not let my enemies gloat over me.25:2 Ps 13:4; 41:11

3No one who waits for you

will be disgraced;25:3 Is 49:23

those who act treacherously without cause

will be disgraced.25:3 Pr 2:22; Is 21:2

4Make your ways known to me, Lord;

teach me your paths.25:4 Ex 33:13; Ps 27:11; 86:11

5Guide me in your truth and teach me,25:5 Jn 16:13

for you are the God of my salvation;25:5 Ex 15:2

I wait for you all day long.25:5 Ps 40:1

6Remember, Lord, your compassion

and your faithful love,

for they have existed from antiquity.25:6 Or everlasting25:6 Ps 98:3; 103:17

7Do not remember the sins of my youth25:7 Jb 13:26

or my acts of rebellion;25:7 Ps 51:1

in keeping with your faithful love, remember me

because of your goodness, Lord.25:7 Neh 13:22

8The Lord is good and upright;25:8 Ps 100:5; Nah 1:7

therefore he shows sinners the way.25:8 Ps 32:8

9He leads the humble in what is right25:9 Ps 23:3

and teaches them his way.25:9 Ex 18:20; Ps 86:11

10All the Lord’s ways show faithful love and truth

to those who keep his covenant and decrees.25:10 Ps 40:11; 103:17–18

11Lord, for the sake of your name,

forgive my iniquity, for it is immense.25:11 Jb 7:21; Ps 103:3; Jr 31:34

12Who is this person who fears the Lord?25:12 Ps 31:19

He will show him the way he should choose.25:12 Ps 37:23

13He will live a good life,

14The secret counsel of the Lord

is for those who fear him,

and he reveals his covenant to them.25:14 Jn 7:17; 1Co 2:9

15My eyes are always on the Lord,

for he will pull my feet out of the net.25:15 Ps 31:4; 124:7

16Turn to me and be gracious to me,

for I am alone and afflicted.25:16 Ps 70:5; 73:14

bring me out of my sufferings.25:17 Jr 10:19

18Consider my affliction and trouble,25:18 Ps 31:7

19Consider my enemies; they are numerous,25:19 Ps 3:1

and they hate me violently.25:19 Ps 9:13

20Guard me and rescue me;25:20 Ps 17:8; 31:15

do not let me be disgraced,

for I take refuge in you.25:20 Ps 86:2

21May integrity and what is right

watch over me,

for I wait for you.25:21 Ps 41:12

22God, redeem Israel, from all its distresses.25:22 Ps 34:22; 130:8
